PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent trouble in operation even when a plurality of passengers continuously ride on when a passenger conveyer using a passenger detecting device is automatically operated. SOLUTION: When a first detecting device 7 detects the passenger, the passenger conveyer 1 starts. Operation of the passenger conveyer 1 is continued when a second detecting device 8 detects the passenger, and then does not detect the passenger. When a third detecting device 9 detects the passenger, the passenger conveyer 1 operates for a third predetermined time, and then stops. When the second detecting device 8 does not detect the passenger for a first predetermined time, the passenger conveyer 1 stops.
