<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device for collecting and removing particulate matter (PM) contained in an exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine. <P>SOLUTION: This exhaust emission control device includes a central electrode selected from a linear electrode and a cylindrical electrode, and a multiple cylindrical electrode surrounding the central electrode like a tunnel, and having at least three or more cylindrical electrodes in a non-contact state. The central electrode and the cylindrical electrodes are alternately used as cathode or anode from the central electrode, and the voltage is applied between the central electrode and the cylindrical electrode for discharging. Further a catalyst for burning the particulate matter is preferably held on the surfaces of the central electrode and the cylindrical electrodes. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
