A mobile electronic device capable of detachably attaching a display unit to a device main body and selecting a mounting position, thereby enhancing the operability. An upper main body (12) of a collapsible mobile electronic device (101) has an internal container (15) on the side opposing to a lower main body (13) when collapsed and an external container (16) on the exposed side and each of the containers has a connector portion (17) for electrical connection with the display unit (11). When carrying the mobile electronic device, the display unit (11) can be mounted on the external container (6) so that the display can be checked while maintaining the device collapsed. Moreover, if the display unit (11) is mounted on the internal container (5), the display can be checked while performing key operation in the opened state.
