<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically separate edible parts of a leaf vegetable such as a head of iceberg lettuce, in which dense leaves overlap one another, from parts to be disposed of, such as a stem. <P>SOLUTION: A developed processor performs processing in accordance with the following steps: in the head of the iceberg lettuce or the structurally similar vegetable, a root of a leaf core (C) of a galea (FE) is cut off from the head (TS) (II); an upper part of the galea (FE) is sliced (III); the leaf core (C) and small pieces (F') of the cut galea (FE) are separated (IV); and the stem part (TS) is cut off (V), so that central edible parts (B, B1 and B2) can be collected. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
