<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a system and method for data format conversion which copes with printer units of various print data formats connected onto a network. <P>SOLUTION: First client - N-th client N 21<SB>1</SB>-21<SB>N</SB>for preparing print data, and a printer controller 51 for controlling printing centralizingly in addition to first - M-th printer units 45<SB>1</SB>-45<SB>M</SB>for printing the print data with a common print data format are arranged on the network. The controller 51 receives the print data prepared by the respective clients 21<SB>1</SB>-21<SB>N</SB>, converts the data formats thereof into the common format, and stores them thereafter in storage means corresponding to the respective printer units 45<SB>1</SB>-45<SB>M</SB>. The storage means is selected to make the printing completed for shortest time of period. The print data after the storage are transmitted from printer controller 51 to the respective printer units 45<SB>1</SB>-45<SB>M</SB>in the every completion of the printing therein. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
