The vehicle has an auxiliary IC engine (10) to drive the device (11) for charging pressure intensification and/or exhaust gas processing. The device is esp. an exhaust turbocharger. Exhaust from the auxiliary engine is supplied to the turbocharger during at least one operating phase, for run-up of the turbocharger. Exhaust may also be supplied to a catalytic converter (12) for warming-up, and to a particle filter for regeneration. The auxiliary engine is connected to a generator (15) to supply vehicle mains, and to a compressor (16).
