PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a work machine for safely transporting a vessel for housing molten metal, and a work machine for performing vessel transport work and slag removing work by one work machine. SOLUTION: This work machine is characterized by having a self-traveling base machine 2, a pair of gripping arms 7 and 8 arranged in an upper frame 3 of this base machine 2, and detachably gripping the vessel S for housing a melt, a lifting mechanism 9 for moving the pair of gripping arms 7 and 8 in parallel in the vertical direction, and raising mechanisms 10 and 11 for raising the pair of gripping arms 7 and 8 by rotating around a horizontal shaft.
