PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving force allocation controller and a driving force allocation method for a four-wheeled-drive vehicle, which enables a precisely variable control of a driving force allocation ratio in response to a lateral acceleration applied to the vehicle. SOLUTION: An ECU 21 for driving force allocation comprises a CPU 22, a ROM 23, a RAM 24, and an input/output circuit 25. A lateral acceleration sensor 34 for sensing the lateral acceleration applied to the four-wheeled-drive vehicle is connected to the ECU 21, which changes the drive mode of the vehicle to a four-wheeled-drive tendency mode or to a two-wheeled-drive tendency mode on the basis of a sensed result of the lateral acceleration sensor 34.
