PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high fixed image quality without deteriorating a toner image at a fixing time. SOLUTION: A printer possesses an image formation device by an electrophotographic system and forms an image on the surface of printing paper, and toner on paper is heated, pressed and fixed by a heater plate coming into contact with the back surface of the paper and a non-contact oven heater to heat the surface of the paper so as to fix the toner image formed on the paper by the image formation device. The non-contact oven heater is divided in a paper feeding direction, and each divided oven heater is opened at a non- printing time. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
