<p>Electrical signals are collected by a microelectrode (120) positioned in a tissue. The signals are communicated to a signal data analyzer (300) that includes logic (130) for producing a statistical distribution of the electrical signals. The statistical distribution facilitates identification logic (315) distinguishing noise signals from neuronal discharge activity signals. The statistical distribution is analyzed to determine and report the nature, if any, of neuronal discharge activity in the location of the microelectrode (120). A microelectrode positioner (155) programmatically repositions the microelectrode (120) based on the nature of the neuronal discharge activity.</p> |
