摘要 Determining the concentration of an analyte in a sample comprising irradiating the sample with polarized light, changing the polarization of the light with a magnetic field in the sample, reflecting or scattering the light within the sample, changing the polarization of the reflected/scattered light, and measuring light absorption as a function of polarization angle, is new. Independent claims are also included for: (1) apparatus for spectroscopic concentration determination comprising a magnet and a system for irradiating a sample with light and collecting reflected/scattered light, where the irradiation takes place in the region of the sample that is overlaid with a magnetic field with the aid of the magnet; and (2) calibration strips comprising a polymeric carrier and/or a matrix, one or more recesses in the matrix that contain one or more concentrations of calibration analytes, reference indicators, humectants and/or buffers dissolved in the matrix and serve as calibration windows, and one or more recesses in the matrix that contain one or more concentrations of reference indicators, humectants and/or buffers dissolved in the matrix and serve as measurement windows.
