PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data transmission apparatus capable of transmitting data stored in a storage medium and indicative of a state of a device from a customer not being an engineer with a simple operation to an expert technical department such as a maintenance/repair service center or the like in charge of the device. SOLUTION: The data transmission apparatus 11 comprises: a data capturing section 12 connected to a storage medium 18 (18a) for storing data with respect to an operating state of a device 110 being a maintenance object and capturing stored data; a serial transmission section 14 converting the data captured by the data capturing section into serial data and transmitting the serial data; a control section 13 for controlling a flow of the data of the serial transmission section and the data capturing section; and a transmission start switch 15 for raising a start timing of the control section, and transmits the data outputted from the serial transmission section to a public line terminal via a MODEM 19 connected to the public line.
