PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for injecting a liquid sample into a horizontal combustion tube capable of reliably controlling the combustion speed of the liquid sample. SOLUTION: Sample suction and discharge parts 2 and 3 are inserted from an upper opening of a sample container 1 to suck the liquid sample L in the sample container 1 into the sample suction and discharge parts 2 and 3. The sample suction and the discharge parts 2 and 3 are elevated and then rotated in a horizontal direction. Then the sample suction and the discharge parts 2 and 3 are inserted into the combustion tube 4 arranged in a horizontal direction, and the liquid sample L in the sample suction and discharge parts 2 and 3 is injected into the combustion tube 4.
