PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle rear display device capable of facilitating backward movement or parking. SOLUTION: A wide angle camera 12 is provided at a low position of the backward of a vehicle, and a narrow angle camera 11 is provided at a high position. A vehicle condition detecting device 20 detecting a condition of the vehicle, a display switching device 30, and a display device 40 are installed. In backward parking, the vehicle condition detecting device 20 detects a vehicle condition from the moving distance of the vehicle, vehicle speed, braking volume and the like, and the display switching device 30 switches a required image corresponding to the condition. For example, in the first half of backward parking, the wide angle camera 12 is actuated so as to display a wide area image at the backward of the vehicle (backward outline), according to the moving distance. In the last half of backward parking, the narrow angle camera 11 is actuated so as to display a narrow area image of the backward of the vehicle (backward details). Since a driver can obtain an appropriate image in a parking process, backward parking can be done easily and safely. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
