<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the reliable operation of a common-rail system of an internal combustion engine having a plurality of cylinders and flexibly assembled in a module without occupying a large space in which the fuel is transferred from a low-pressure region to a high-pressure region having a pressure- accumulator line comprising at least two storage units connected to each other via a carriage pipe by at least one high-pressure pump, each fuel injector is connected to the unit. <P>SOLUTION: Each storage unit of the pressure-accumulator line is designed so as to have a storage volume to at most two cylinders, a cover (7) is provided on both side end faces of the unit, the full functional unit for introduction and carriage of the fuel is integrally assembled with the cover, at least one separate pump accumulator (4) is disposed in a high-pressure range between the high- pressure pump and the pressure-accumulator line, the accumulator unit is connected to at least one cover of the accumulator unit of the pressure-accumulator line for the fuel carriage, and the fuel is fed by at least one high-pressure pump. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
