PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic radial tire having excellent high-speed durability and without a fear of cord fracture by sufficiently reducing the extending amount of the cord through use as a belt reinforcing layer of a cap ply made of a cord extending substantially in the tire circumferential direction or a combination body of the cap ply and an edge cover. SOLUTION: The belt reinforcing layer is the cap ply or the combination body of the cap ply and the edge cover, the cord material used for the reinforcing layer is changed in the same tire depending on its zone, a tire central zone or a shoulder zone, and the cord is spirally sound on a rigid core so as to form the cap ply or the combination body of the cap ply and the edge cover.
