PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To consistently ensure the paper sheet carrying accuracy by fitting a cleaning member to remove any dust and paper powder on a carrying belt to carry paper sheets to be printed. SOLUTION: An image is formed on a paper sheet 9 to be printed on the carrying belt 4 attracted by the static electricity by discharging ink from a recording head 1 held by a reciprocal carriage 2. When dust and paper powder are deposited on the carrying belt 4, the attraction by the static electricity is weakened, and the desired carrying accuracy cannot be obtained. Therefore, a cleaning member 15 is abutted on the carrying belt 4 to scrape the dust and paper powder on the belt. The cleaning member 15 includes a sponge and a brush. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
