<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for changing received streaming contents channel by which channels can be changed instantaneously and, at the same time, jitters can be eliminated. <P>SOLUTION: In the system and method, a first contents stream carrying contents channel signals is received by means of a buffer. The first contents stream first loads the buffer by carrying the contents channel signals at a speed which is considerably faster than the reproducing speed of streaming contents. The buffer switches the reception of the contents channel signals from the first contents stream to a second contents stream. The rate (speed) of the second contents stream is almost equal to the reproducing rate (speed) of the streaming contents.
