<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophoresis chip capable of easily injecting a small amount of a sample. <P>SOLUTION: A hydrophobic region 62, a narrow hydrophilic region, and electrodes 67a and 67b are formed on the surface of a substrate 61. The hydrophilic region and the electrodes are surrounded with the hydrophobic region 62. A gel precursor solution is dropped and polymerized in the hydrophilic region to from a gel 64. A gap 65 for adding the sample is provided at some midpoint in the gel. A droplet 72 of a sample solution is made to adhere to the tip of a needle 71 and passed through a slit 65 while the droplet is brought into contact with the hydrophobic region 62, and the droplet of the needle connects with the gel 64 in such a form as to fill the gap 65 of the gel 64.
