INTRINSICALLY SAFE CONTROL SYSTEM FOR VARIABLE RATIO TRANSMISSION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize the combination of both control function and risk prevention function of a continuously variable ratio transmission at a low cost. SOLUTION: This control system 100 for a variable ratio transmission of such a type that two mutually displaceable members 15 and 16 of a transmission 1 can produce a thrust having a component relating to a transmitted torque is shown here. The system comprises a drive means and an operation control means 103 disposed in the space thereof from at least one of both members of the transmission so that a displacement can be produced by the operation of the drive means 105. Elastic means 106a and 106b are disposed between the operation control means and the drive means. When the component of a thrust along a displacement shaft exceeds a specified threshold in correspondence with the maximum value of the torque transmitted by the transmission, the elastic means can be elastically deformed as the result derived from the action of the thrust component.
