PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrostatic charging device which has its holding member made small-sized and can stably impart necessary tension to a grid. SOLUTION: The electrostatic charging device which causes corona discharge by applying a voltage to an electric charging wire disposed along the width of a photoreceptor and electrostatically charges the surface of the photoreceptor to a given voltage through the grid applied with a given grid voltage is equipped with a shield case in which the electrostatic charging wire is stored by opening its photoreceptor side and the holding member 35 which is fitted to lengthwise end parts of the shield case and holds the grid, and the holding member 35c has an elastic part 35c which is projected along the length of the shield case and bent and the elastic part 35c holds the grip while elastically deforming to apply the tension to the grid.
