Sliding roof panel for vehicle has improved front hinge mountings which reduce draughts and protect seals

A sliding roof panel for a vehicle has a tilt and slide operation. In the opening sequence the front hinge is fixed as the rear of the panel is lifted for ventilation. The front hinge is lifted in the next sequence followed by a rearwards sliding action with the tilted panel slid over the rear fixed part of the roof. The sliding action is supported by sliders on each side of the panel, with the sliders moving in profiled tracks using sliding blocks. The hinge action does not open a gap between the front edge of the panel and the front of the roof , reducing draughts and without excess pressure on the panel seals.
