A composition comprising: i) One or more carbamic acid derivatives of the formula (I), where R1 is hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine, C1-6alkyl, trifluoromethyl, hydroxy or methoxy; X is oxygen, carbonyl, methylene, sulfur or sulfonyl; Z is oxygen, methylene or sulfur; Y is oxygen or sulfur and R2 is C1-6alkyl. ii) One or more 4-(haloalkyl)phenoxyphenylurea derivatives of formula (II), where: A, B, X, and Z are independently fluorine or chlorine; n is 0, 1, 2 or 3; p is 0 or 1; Y is a C1-6haloalkyl group; R1 is hydrogen or ûSNR2R3 where R2 is C1-6alkyl and R3 is C1-6alkyl or ûCOR4 or ûCOOR4 where R4 is C1-6alkyl, or R2 and R3 together represent an alkylene group having 4 or 5 carbon atoms and optionally substituted by an alkoxycarbonyl group of up to 6 carbon atoms in the alkyl moiety, The carbamic acid derivative and the 4-(haloalkyl)phenoxyphenylurea derivative are present in the composition in respective proportions such as to provide a synergistic effect against insects and/or acari. Also described is an agronomic or therapeutic composition comprising the composition described above and at least one agronomically or therapeutically acceptable carrier. Also described is a protective composition comprising the composition described above and at least one additive suitable for the formulation of paints, coatings or varnishes. Also described is the use of the composition for the control of insects and/or acari.
