<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active matrix type display device of a low power consumption and high display quality. SOLUTION: In this invention, what is called dot-reverse driving by auxiliary capacitance lines can be realized by having pixel electrodes arranged in a matrix form on a substrate, switching elements connected therewith, an auxiliary capacitance electrode arranged for each pixel electrode, 1st and 2nd auxiliary capacitance lines arranged correspondingly to a plurality of pixel electrodes, and 1st and 2nd auxiliary capacitance consisting of either the 1st or 2nd auxiliary capacitance line and the auxiliary capacitance electrodes; performing display by applying either a 1st video signal voltage of which the polarity is inverted every frame period or a 2nd video signal voltage having the polarity opposite to that of the 1st video signal voltage to the pixel electrodes and auxiliary capacitance electrodes; and supplying either the 1st or 2nd auxiliary capacitance voltage which varies for an off-period of the switching elements to the 1st and 2nd auxiliary capacitance lines.</p> |
