PURPOSE: A semi-transmission type color liquid crystal display and a method for manufacturing a substrate are provided to obtain excellent color purity and brightness both in a light transmission mode and in a light reflection mode in the semi-transmission type liquid crystal display using a fully-reflective film and to produce in an economical and practical method. CONSTITUTION: A semi-transmission type color liquid crystal display is composed of a light reflection part(11) of which one substrate(10) comprises a fully-reflective film(11a) and an inner surface having a light transmission part(12) formed as an aperture without the fully-reflective film. When color filters(14) are formed at each of the light reflection part and the light transmission part, a transparent resist(13) having a predetermined thickness is arranged on the fully-reflective film of the light reflection part and the light reflection part is formed as a hole having a predetermined depth.
