PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating method on a roller which minimizes the variation in thickness of a coating film caused by a part of the roller such as a position in the length direction of a roller body (one end part and the other end part) or a position to stay away from coating liquid, and can efficiency coating even with a thick film thickness. SOLUTION: A roll body 2 is horizontally supported while rotating, coating liquid 3 is flown down from a discharge port 1 which is provided upward of the roll body 2, and the discharge port 1 is moved in the length direction of the roll body 2 at a predetermined speed while coating on the surface of the roll body 2 with the coating liquid 3.
