The regeneration system for a particle filter (1) integrated in a Diesel engine exhaust line (3) comprises load means (4) of energy storage means (5). It comprises driving means (6) for the load means in order, during the initial detection of a need for regeneration of the filter, to regulate the operation of the load means in order to attain and hold a minimum energy level in the storage means. Later the driving means operates the load means normally in order to reload the energy storage means and vary the mechanical load applied by the loading means on the engine and bring it to an optimized operating point for the regeneration of the filter.
