PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device, an image file managing method, and a storage medium which make it easy to manage still picture files by easily grasping the contents of still pictures when the still picture recorded in a flash memory card are browsed and also saves the trouble of operation to rename the file numbers of still picture files in time-series order. SOLUTION: The main microcomputer 117 of the image pickup device performs control for adding a file name composed of a specific number to a still picture file recorded in the flash memory card 110a and control for skipping numbers given to still picture files at specific intervals when still pictures obtained by an imaging device 103 are recorded to the flash memory card 110a after a moving picture obtained by the imaging device 103 is recorded to a DV tape 110b.
