The control device includes an electro-hydraulic valve configuration (2) for governing both sides of a piston (3) of the pump. The valve configuration has a valve (5,6) for each swivel direction of the piston. The return device connected to the piston consists of two mechanical touch elements (7,8) each connected to one of the valves and in sliding engagement with the piston so that on leaving the neutral position the touch elements are actuated. The touch elements can be held pretensioned against the piston through a control spring (14).
