PURPOSE: A system and a method for managing a TMN(Telecommunication Management Network) performance about an ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) switch are provided to gather performance data per a maximum gathering period of the ATM switch according to a gathering object, store the gathered performance data in a database, periodically update the performance data until it is reached to the gathering period of the performance data requested in the TMN, and report the updated performance data to a TMN manager. CONSTITUTION: A database(34) stores a list about performance data activated by the performance data gathering request of a TMN manager, and stores a performance data value updated per a maximum gathering period about the gathered performance data. A disk(35) stores a performance data file gathered according to each gathering object. A performance data gathering unit(32) gathers performance data at the maximum gathering period of an ATM period(20), stores the gathered performance data as a file in the disk(35), and transmits a file name corresponding to the stored performance data file using an IPC(Inter Processor Communication). In case that the TMN manager requests the gathering or gathering end of the performance data, a performance management and operation unit(31) activates or inactivates the performance data gathering unit(32), requests or ends a corresponding gathering of the performance data, and records or deletes a performance management request about the requested managed object in the performance data gathering activation list of the database(34). A gathering object-classified performance data processing unit(33) reads the performance data file corresponding to the file name transmitted from the performance data gathering unit(32) from the disk(35), processes the performance data according to the gathering object, updates a performance data value about the performance data processed per the maximum gathering period, and stores the updated performance data value in the database(34). In case that it is reached to the performance data gathering period requested by the TMN manager, the gathering object-classified performance data processing unit(33) processes the performance data stored in the database(34), and reports a performance report message to the TMN manager.
