PURPOSE: A method and a device for selecting a channel of a television are provided to display groups of channels according to the intensity of broadcasting signals for a user to select to whether delete or store channels, thereby utilizing the automatic channel selection more conveniently. CONSTITUTION: A method for selecting a channel of a television includes the steps of determining whether broadcasting signals are existing in channels while changing the channel(S20,S30), grouping the channels has broadcasting signals into a predetermined number of groups by classifying the channels according to the intensity of the broadcasting signals(S50,S60), receiving a selection signal input by a user with respect to the groups(S70), and storing or deleting the channel in the group selected according to the selection signal(S90,S100).
