A co-processor for performing predetermined transformation calculations on data representing geometrical shapes, the data including complex numbers, the co-processor including: a bridge connection for coupling the co-processor to a data processing system; a decode unit for decoding instruction set commands for controlling the co-processor to perform predetermined transformation calculation; an execution unit responsive to the decode unit for performing predetermined transformation calculations on input data to produce output data; at least one complex number arithmetic unit responsive; a register set responsive to the decode unit for storing instruction set commands, input data, output data, and intermediary data required to perform predetermined transformation calculations and predetermined complex number arithmetic calculations; and, an internal bus for coupling the decode unit, the complex number arithmetic unit, the register set, and the execution unit. |
