PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a spherical corundum particle at a low cost and with little abrasion. SOLUTION: A composition, containing an electromelted alumina and/or a sintered alumina each having an average diameter of 5-35μm and at least one selected from among a halogen compound, a boron compound, and an alumina hydrate, is granulated. Thereafter, the granulated composition is heat- treated at a temperature of 1000-1600 deg.C and crushed, thus forming a round shaped alumina particle.
