DEVICE FOR PRODUCING ELEVATOR SHAFT INFORMATION

The position of an elevator car (2) in an elevator shaft is important in controlling an elevator (4). To achieve the above, a device for producing elevator shaft information is required. In the example cited, the device consists of an encoder (11) connected to a toothed belt (10) tensed above th e height of the shaft, wherein said encoder detects the absolute position of t he elevator car (2). The encoder (11) which is arranged on the elevator car (2) has a toothed wheel (12) which can be driven by means of the toothed belt (1 1) when the elevator car (2) moves in the elevator shaft (1). Guide rollers (13 ) ensure that the toothed wheel (12) engages securely in the toothed wheel wor k (12) of the toothed belt (10). Each end of the toothed belt (10) is associat ed with a transversal support element (14). A reinforcement of the toothed belt acting as a tension string ensures that the necessary belt tension is maintained. .
