PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To industrially and efficiently obtain a benzyl ester at low cost. SOLUTION: The objective method for producing a benzyl ester comprises reaction between a benzyl compound and a carboxylic acid in the presence of a solid catalyst containing at least palladium as the active component and in the presence of molecular oxygen, wherein the molecular oxygen is fed into the reaction liquid under such a pressure condition that the oxygen partial pressure in the reaction system is >=0.098 MPa.
