PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated optical fiber discriminator capable of appropriately discriminating coated optical fibers of different outer diameters, with least transmission insertion loss. SOLUTION: A fiber insert part 4 to which a coated optical fiber is attached is provided with a fixing clip 11 for clipping the coated optical fiber and a movable clip 12. The fixing clip 11 is provide with a pair of small recessed parts 21 and 22 while the movable clip 12 provided with a pair of small protruding parts 23 and 24. The recessed parts 21 and 22 and the protruding parts 23 and 24 cause a deformation, small waveform, on the coated optical fiber (micro bending). A leaked light is detected with light-receiving sensors 14 and 15 provided below the recessed parts 21 and 22.
