<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system 10 and a method for radiographic inspection of aerofoil section structure 16 of an airplane 10. SOLUTION: The system and method contain a radiation source 30 arranged in one side of the aerofoil section structure 16 and an X-Y scanning device 44 arranged on the opposite side of the aerofoil section structure. The scanning device is positioned so as to receive radiation from the radiation source. A radiation detector 42 is fixed to the scanning device. In operation, while the radiation source emits radiation, the radiation detector is moved according to a previously set pattern. Thereby, by single positioning of the scanning device, a wide range can be inspected, and inspection capacity is increased. The radiation detector converts incoming radiation into an electric signal, and a computer processes the signal to produce a radiation image of the aerofoil section structure.</p> |
