PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an olefin polymerization catalyst which has industrially sufficient activity and controls the production of an oligomer and a swell ratio of a produced polyolefin. SOLUTION: The electron density of a chromium atom is controlled by reducing an oxide chromium catalyst which is supported on a fireproof compound and activated by a heat treatment in a nonreducing atmosphere.
