A toner scatter preventing device (70) of the present invention is appicable to an image forming apparatus of the type developing a latent image formed on an image carrier (1) with toner stored in a developing device (2). The device (70) includes an exhausting device (72) for discharging air present in the developing device (2) via an exhausr passage (73). A toner collecting device (100) collects the toner entrained by air discharged by the the exhausting device (72). A toner storing device (74) is positioned upstream of the toner collecting device (100) in the direction of air flow for storing the toner collected by the toner collecting device (100) without causing it to drop into the toner present in the developing the device (2). The developer is a toner and carrier mixture in which carrier grains have a weight mean grain size of 65 mu m or below. <IMAGE> |
