medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves excising ribs at the deformity apices on both sides at several levels. Wedge-shaped sternal osteotomy is carried out. Wire is brought through the ventral end of the vertebral fragment of each resected rib in intracostal way making exit through lateral cortical costal plate. The ventral rib fragment is set with the sternum in line with the wire pulled through. The wire is brought through the ventral rib fragment with the sternum. Wire end exiting through the lateral cortical costal plate is bent. The wire is pulled as far as possible until the bent end thrusts against the rib.
