PURPOSE: A duplex control apparatus and a method for the same are provided to prevent data loss by performing an automatic switching function in an abnormal state of high-speed network equipment. CONSTITUTION: The first and the second switching control boards(100,200) generate board switching control signals for determining states of active/standby, output board active/standby signals for indicating active/standby states, and receive opposite board active/standby signals. A microprocessor(400) generates a switching command for switching the first and the second switching control boards(100,200) to the active/standby states and obtains switching information by reading registers mounted in the first and the second switching control boards(100,200) according to interrupt signals generated from the first and the second switching control boards(100,200). A backplane(300) provides a signal line for connecting the first switching control board(100) with the second switching control board(200).
