PURPOSE: A steering force control apparatus for a power steering system is provided to steer conveniently by widening the steering range, to cut down expenses by reducing manufacturing process with simple structure, and to prevent external force and impact by using MR(Magnetro-Rheological) fluid. CONSTITUTION: A steering force control device of a power steering system is composed of a storage tank(110); a hydraulic pump(120); a switch valve(130); a power cylinder(140) applying operating fluid through the switch valve; MR fluid supplied from the storage tank to form hydraulic pressure by the hydraulic pump; a control piston(150) operating by MR fluid in the power cylinder, and having an electromagnet forming the magnetic field by receiving power around an orifice; and an electronic control unit(160) adjusting the voltage applied to the electromagnet of the piston. The steering force is adjusted conveniently with expanding the operational range of the steering wheel. Expenses are reduced with simplifying the manufacturing process, and impact is prevented.
