PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production process for a fluorinated dicyanobenzene of formula (2) from tetrachlorodicyanobenzene represented by formula (1) that can be practically carried out in an industrial scale. SOLUTION: In this production process, the tetrachlorodicyanobenzene represented by formula (1) is allowed to react with a fluorinating agent in the presence of an aprotic polar solvent in an amount of 0.1-3-fold mass based on the tetrachlorodicyanobenzene whereby the objective fluorinated dicyanobenzene represented by formula (2) can be produced in high yield. When the reaction is continued, as a massive solid component in the reaction is cracked or removed in this case, the high-yield production can be attained more surely.
