PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic particulate membrane-specific protein Mms16 derived from a magnetotactic bacterium (Magnetospirillum sp.) strain AMB-1, a DNA encoding the same, and sandwich immunoassay methods and pharmaceutical compositions utilizing the same. SOLUTION: A cell homogenate of a magnetotactic bacterium was fractionated into three components, i.e., cell membrane, magnetic particulates, and cytoplasm. SDS-PAGE profiles of these proteins were compared with each other to identify the new protein Mms16 that is specific to the magnetotactic bacterial particulate membrane. An amino acid sequence of the protein and the base sequence of the gene encoding the protein are determined, and it is confirmed that the protein has a GTPase activity. |
