摘要 The engine has an exhaust gas turbocharger compressor in the induction tract driven by a turbine in the exhaust system and an electrically driven compressor upstream of the first compressor. At least some of the air compressed by the electrically driven compressor is fed via a branch downstream of it connected to the exhaust system upstream of the catalyser to feed secondary air into the exhaust system when the compressor is switched on. The engine has an exhaust gas turbocharger whose compressor (9) in the induction tract (3) is driven via a shaft by a turbine in the exhaust system (5). A further electrically driven compressor (14) is arranged upstream of the first compressor in the induction tract. At least some of the air compressed by the electrically driven compressor is fed via a branch (19) downstream of it connected to the exhaust system upstream of the catalyser (6) to feed secondary air into the exhaust system when the compressor is switched on. Independent claims are also included for the following: a method of heating exhaust a gas catalyser for a charged internal combustion engine.
