The invention relates to a playback device for audio signals that are transmitted over potentially disturbed channels. Said playback device is equipped with a unit (43) for detecting a degree of disturbance of the audio signals, with a unit (45) for reducing high-frequency portions of the audio signals according to the degree of disturbance, and with a sound influencing unit (46) for amplifying the audio signals in a frequency-selective manner. The reducing unit (45) for reducing high-frequency portions of the audio signals is additionally configured according to a frequency-selective audio signal amplification that is preset by the sound influencing unit (46). The inventive playback device makes it possible to achieve a level reduction, which is dependent on disturbances and which is independent of a sound presetting.
