OPTICAL COMPENSATION SHEET, POLARIZER AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical compensation sheet, a polarizer and a liquid crystal display device in which excellent display quality with a wide viewing angle is realized. SOLUTION: The optical compensation sheet consists of an alignment layer and an optically anisotropic layer laminated in this order on a transparent substrate. A polymer with a cinnamic acid derivative on a side chain is used as the alignment layer. Unidirectional light irradiation imparts an aligning function to the alignment layer. Also a discotic liquid crystalline compound is used for the optically anisotropic layer.
