<p>The following are claimed: (1) an isolated protein having anti-Oomycete (especially anti-Phytophthora and/or anti-Pythium) activity, and derived from a plant is encoded by 1784, 1590, 1981, 1757, 1527 or 1530 bp sequences (given in the specification), or their fragments or muteins; (2) a protein similar to (1) having carbohydrate oxidase (CHO) activity; (3) CHO having 529 aa, 1590 bp, 540 aa, two 508 aa and 509 aa sequences (given in the specification), or their parts or muteins; (4) a protein similar to (1), encoded by one of the 18 ORF sequences (given in the specification); (5) an isolated DNA encoding (1)-(4), and DNA that hybridises to it; (6) a chimaeric DNA comprising the DNA of (5); (7) a host cells comprising the DNA of (6), optionally in the form of a vector or integrated into the genome; (8) plants, or their parts, comprising the host cells; (9) a plant-derived protein having a 55-65 kDa molecular weight and exhibiting COH activity; (10) an antibody (Ab) specific for (1)-(4), and (11) a nucleic acid sequence obtained from a gene encoding (1)-(4) and having tissue- and/or developmental-specific transcription regulating activity in plants.</p> |
