PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic original transfer device in which a carriage path for stabilizing the transfer of the original and improving picture read precision is formed. SOLUTION: In this automatic original transfer device, the contact position of a carriage guide member and the original P is regulated to the minimum before and after the rear edge of the original P passes through a roller 14 before a read position, so that the fluctuation in the moving speed of the original at the read position can be reduced, and that the read precision can be improved.
