PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrooptical device which permits preventing a breakage accident in a production process and a container for storing an electrooptical panel which is disposed in the electrooptical device. SOLUTION: A second substrate 20 is formed more rigidly than a first substrate 10, a first region 41 which is formed in such a manner that the first substrate 10 is protruded from the region where the first substrate 10 and the second substrate 20 overlap each other, and second regions 42a, 42b, which are made in such a manner that the second substrate 20 is protruded from the region where the first substrate 10 and the second substrate 20 overlap each other or the first substrate 10 and the second substrate 20 are made to form the same face, is disposed on one edge face of the electrooptical panel and, on the part where the first substrate 10 in the first region 41 is protruded, terminals 13, 14 for connection with external circuits are formed.
